The Great North
I've been traveling to the beautiful northern countries for over 20 years now. My first trip, in my twenties, took me on a video shoot across Iceland with Canon. That was the first time I saw the beauty of this fragile world with my own eyes. On that very first trip, I was bitten by the so-called north bug. Since then, I've taken countless trips by ship, plane, campervan and car, literally spending years in the far north. To this day, the freedom, tranquility and beauty of the northlands continue to draw me back.
This is by far my largest, longest and most ambitious photography project. Over the years, I've used about 10 different cameras to capture the beauty of the North. These include the Canon 5D, 5D MkII, Nikon D800E, D810, D850, Z8, Sony RX100 VI, F828 and various drones, like the large DJI Phantom 4 Pro+, the Air 2S and now the Air 3S. I still remember having to bring an extra piece of carry-on luggage to Iceland because the drone was so large. Thankfully, this is easier now.
I have used all my knowledge about handling of all the different photo equipment, shooting techniques, image composition, digital image processing as well as the planning of countless different photo tours to create all these images. So, enjoy and discover my favorite photographs from Iceland, Norway, Sweden, the Faroe Islands and Scotland in this gallery. Experience the magical light of the Far North and the tranquility of this sparsely populated region of our planet with me in this gallery or the high-quality coffee-table book.
